The terrace
By the water, opposite the Westerkerk
Picture this: you're sitting at a table with glowing coals and a bife de lomo that just came off the kitchen grill. In front of you, the canal, with boats drifting past and sometimes throwing a wave up toward your table. To your left, the Westerkerk, that tall pointed tower where the bells ring every quarter hour. And you, sitting in the middle of it all, with a glass of Mendoza Malbec in your hand and the city humming quietly in the background.
This is what canal-side dining in Amsterdam actually feels like. Not the idea of it. The real thing. Our terrace at Prinsengracht 188 is one of the few places in the canal belt where you can eat right on the water without being swept up in a tourist merry-go-round.
Attached to the restaurant, but it feels like its own small room. About eight tables, all with a view. Summer evenings book up fast, so reservations are worth it, especially on weekends.
